June 30, 2013 North Myrtle Beach, SC – The Grand Strand is a usually a great place for tourists to visit in June.  The sky is mostly clear rainthroughout the day with occasional evening showers that quickly dissipate.
We can usually expect to see less than five inches of rain in June.  However, Wunderground.com tracked that this year June has drowned us in almost 11 inches of the wet stuff.  Over three inches of that fell in just the last seven days and the month still has one more day to go.
And looking out for the next ten days, more of the stuff coming down is forecast by Wnderground.com, WPDE, WMBF and others in the area.
This Sunday morning started out with an advisory from North Myrtle Beach Public Safety to use caution when moving around the city as some roads were under water and closed due to the heavy downpour yesterday and this morning.  NOAA Weather Radios are sounding alarms advising of severe weather - tornado warnings until 5 pm. Local stations are warning of late afternoon storms that will produce lightning, heavy downpours and blustery winds. With the ground already saturated with 11 inches of rain this month, more flooding is likely.
But, all is not lost.  There is still plenty of things to do indoors in North Myrtle Beach.  Check our rainy day guide at http://www.northmyrtlebeachonline.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2763 .
