Cathy Altman joins North Myrtle Beach Online team

August 14, 2012 North Myrtle Beach, SC – Throughout our lives we have had the opportunity to work with very bright, respected individuals in the North Strand community.  All of them stand out in our minds, but one, Cathy Altman, has been exceptional.  We first met her when she was events manager for the North Myrtle Beach Chamber and we admired her organizational skills and high energy.

We are pleased to announce that Cathy has joined North Myrtle Beach Online as Vice President of Marketing and Sales.  Her focus on the Cathy Altmancustomer has always been her strength in everything she undertook.

Cathy grew up in Calabash, NC and is a direct descendant of the town's founding father, Samuel Thomas. Remarkably, Cathy was the first and youngest woman to serve on the Calabash Town Council when she was just 18 and served as Mayor Pro Temp.

Her sales career began in 1982, as a sales representative with the North Myrtle Beach Times newspaper, which then led her to radio sales with WNMB FM (later B-105) for 12 years. During this time, Cathy served as a volunteer for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in their membership division, which helped shaped a passion for Chamber of Commerce work. Cathy has worked in a variety of capacities for area chambers, including most recently as the six-year President/CEO of the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.

In March 2012, Cathy could no longer deny the entrepreneurial spirit and took a leap of faith by starting her own business, Spring Street Events, an event planning firm encompassing weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, festival management and even officiating weddings! Event planning has been an integral part of her career as she was awarded the 2005 SC Event Director of the Year honor by the SC Festival & Event Association. She is currently the contracted event manager for the Little River Chamber's ShrimpFest, scheduled for October 13 & 14 in Little River.

Cathy views her new role with NorthMyrtleBeachOnline.com as a great opportunity to work with the local businesses and provide an affordable online advertising presence as well as allow her to continue her vision for Spring Street Events.

Cathy can be reached at (843) 742-0842 or cathy@nmbo.net
