June 11, 2012 The picture was taken recently in the city limits of North Myrtle Beach. Lots of good guesses; most were correct which shows folks have a good eye for the camera. This particular picture would have been taken on private property in 2004. This spot of property was on land cut off from access by city property on one side and marsh land on other sides.
The developer and the city agreed upon a land swap and Heritage Shores Nature Preserve was created as the newest ‘pocket park’ in the city. The developer got marsh front land upon which they build magnificent homes and the city got a beautiful island park.
The land is preserved in its native state and is accessible via a series of boardwalks and observations docks. Signage throughout the park describes the plants, animals, fishes and birds that can be seen in the park.
The picture was taken immediately inside Heritage Shores after crossing the first boardwalk.
