Little River, SC May 14, 2008—LaCha Porter, Manager HB Spokes Saloon in Little River, SC, said, “We’ve made a few minor changes, like placing the bar at the opposite end, but it has been rebuilt on the same concrete pad and in the same style. We were still completing construction even as late as last week.”
Porter, who has been with HB Spokes for three years said they could not have survived without local support.
“They even came in the winter time to a temporary building where the only heat was propane heaters. That was what kept us going,” commented Porter.
According to Porter, traffic has been steadily picking up since last Thursday. “We are getting lots of repeats. People coming back to see how we rebuilt and commenting on how fast it was done.”
Spanning over 4 acres, Spokes boasts 8 outside bars with two indoors, 2 concert stages, a huge BurnOut pit and HB Spokes retail store. During Bike Week, live music, featuring Loose Change, Sea Hags and Sidewinder, begins at 3pm each day – in the off season, live music is every Wednesday. In addition, HB Spokes is a full service Restaurant with some of the best eats
on the beach.
HB Spokes will see, at least once, the over 300,000 visitors that come during the two week Harley Rally.
If you are in a four-wheel vehicle, it is not easy to get into HB Spokes. You have to park a short distance away and catch a shuttle bus to HB Spokes. If you try to park on the side of the road, HB Spokes’ security service will attempt to chase you away. If they are not successful, you run the risk of being towed by Horry County Police.
The security check point, however, is also a good point from which to get an overview of HB Spokes’ customers and a cross section of Bike Week attendees.
Felix Malecki, HB Spokes Security, said, “I’ve seen bikes coming in here with license plates from all over the country – Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania
